Beauty Is...

Beauty is knowing who you truly are,
Appreciating what’s on the inside,
Not the outside.

Beauty is believing that you’re great,
And believing in yourself,
So others will too.

Beauty is speaking your mind,
Speaking your true opinion,
Not letting others change it.

Beauty is being yourself,
Showing your true colors,
Not letting others bring you down.

Beauty is putting forth your best effort,
By trying your hardest in everything you do,
Not just trying to “get by”.

Beauty is many things,
But most importantly,
Beauty is you.

The Current of Love

It rumbles and roars,
Through your heart it soars,
Love crashes onto your soul,
As a tumbling wave on the shore.

The calming sound of gentle waves,
Is all around when rolling in the deep,
Of a heart filled with love.

When you have love,
It over takes your world,
Like the ocean,
Swells around you with its salt water waves.

Hand-in-hand,
Across the sand,
Love takes you on a journey,
Like a boat on the sea,
Cruising on the rippling waters,
Crystal, clear, and pure,
Just as your heart is when filled with love.

Like the waves kiss the sun-drenched shore,
Love kisses your heart and soul,
So you feel it in the sand in-between your toes
And in the salt in your hair.

Calm and at peace,
But sometimes rough and stormy,
Love is just like the ocean and the sea,
When in love, staying afloat is the key.

A New Year's Kiss

Lights sparkled all across the terrace upon the rooftop. Everyone was huddled around the flat screen, enthralled with the festivities in New York City.
Andrew turned to his girlfriend Lilly as those around began the count down.
“60…59…58…”
“Lilly, you’re the most amazing girl I’ve ever met. When I’m with you,” he stopped for just a moment to grab Lilly’s hands and pull her close, “I ‘m complete.”
Lily’s cheeks turned a rosy red as Andrew gazed deep into her eyes.
 “35…34…35…”
Andrew pulled something out of his pocket. He crouched down, “My dearest Lilly,”
“10…9…8…”
“Will you marry me?”
“5…4…3…”
Lilly’s eyes widened, a huge smile grew on her face, “Yes!”
Andrew slipped the ring on her finger and spun her around.
Everyone screamed, “Happy New Year!”
Amidst the celebration, Andrew lifted Lilly and held her in one long kiss, the perfect way to start the New Year.

Remembering You

When I remember you
I think of our time together
Not the time that’s lost forever

Crashing waves on the shore
Our footprints left in the sand
As we ran hand-in-hand
At the time
We did not know where this would go
But as long as we were together
In that time and place
We were as happy as could be

When I remember you
I think of our time together
Not the time that’s lost forever

Noisy people all around
The crowded market place was full
But I felt alone with you
Walking past the shop windows
Weaving through the sea
Of people who weren’t you and me
In that time and place
We were as in love as could be

When I remember you
I think of our time together
Not the time that’s lost forever

A romantic walk under the neon lights
After the perfect dinner, you proposed
We didn’t see the speeding car
Just as he didn’t see us
Screeching tires, my blood-curdling scream
A blinding light engulfed by darkness
In that time and place
I was as devastated as could be

When I remember you
I think of our time together
Not the time that’s lost forever

Countless flowers strewn across your grave
My flowing tears were the only sound
There is no one but me around
As a butterfly comes and lands on my arm
In your favorite shade of blue
And I know that it could only be you
In this time and place
I am as peaceful as could be

When I remember you
I think of our time together
Not the time that’s lost forever

Campfire Crush

“Don’t you just love the smell of crisp mountain air?”
“It is truly amazing,” I cuddled up to Austin as I responded.
“Will you two get a room already?” Sarah laughed as she spoke.
“Are you jealous, Sarah?” Austin pulled me all the way onto his lap and gave me a big squeeze.
“Just making a joke, Austin.”
“Well, some of us don’t like seeing it,” Jason fidgeted on his log across the fire.
“Oh come down, Jason. Abby and I are just enjoying each other’s company.”
I almost forgot that Jason was up here with us. He’s basically been non-existent. He didn’t hike the mountain with us. He didn’t go zip lining through the trees. Heck, he didn’t even go fishing yesterday, and he has been an expert fisherman since before he could even walk. Maybe the fact that Austin and I were together as a couple was bugging him. But that wouldn’t make any sense, because Jason and I are just friends.
Trying to change the subject, I asked, “So, does anyone want some s’mores?”
“That sounds like a great idea, Abby. Let me go grab what we need from the cabin. Don’t miss me too much.” Kissing me on the forehead, Austin got up.
“Let me join you.” Sarah eagerly got up and followed Austin.
“So, I guess it’s just you and me.”
Staring at him from across the fire, I wondered if he was going to respond.
Avoiding my gazing eyes, Jason responded, “Yeah, I guess.”
“Spit it out, Jason. I know that something’s bothering you, but I can’t quite figure out what.”
He slightly shifted away from the fire. “It’s nothing.”
“Bullshit! I’ve known you since first grade. I can tell when something’s bothering you. I am not going to ask again, so spit it out!”
Surprisingly, Jason walked over to me. He looked frustrated. “Do you really want to know what’s wrong? You sure you don’t want Austin to be here with you?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Slight anger escaped my voice as I spoke.
“You know what I mean. You know that I have liked you since eighth grade. And now, three years later, it finally seemed like you might be into me too when you invited me on this camping trip, but right when I arrived I saw you in front of the cabins in someone else’s arms, kissing them. I even brought eleven roses for you to represent each year we have known each other. And I was going to give you the twelfth rose as a surprise because I was planning on taking you out under the stars one night and asking you to be my girlfriend.” He paused for a moment to collect his breath, “No can you see why I have been so distant?”
Tears began to well up in my eyes. “Jason, I-I-I had no…”
Before I could finish, Jason pulled me up into his arms, held me tight, and kissed me.

New Story Idea

Recently, I have began to write this short story. I am attempting to build a plot around it and possible turn it into a novel. What do you think? Do you like it so far? Remember, it is currently a work in progress. Read on and enjoy. ;)

Honestly, he is like no one I have ever met before. His charming personality took me by surprise and I’ve never felt so comfortable around anyone like that before. Normally, I am a very shy person, but when I was talking with him, it felt like we could have gone on for hours.
I met him in the oddest of circumstances. During school one day, at around lunchtime, there was a lockdown. Knowing me and my terrible luck, I was walking towards the office with no one around me. Surprisingly, a couple of yards away, there was a staff room. I hoped it was unlocked. I ran over to the door, and to my surprise, it opened. Unknown to me at the time, there was there was someone else in the room. Well, he was actually in the back space closet. To keep myself hidden from outside, I quickly crouched down below the window sill. In doing this so quickly, I forgot to turn off the lights off.
There was a rustling in the corner closet. I crawled over to the cabinets on the wall. When I was hidden, someone came out of the closet.
“Hello?” The figure walked out the door way and questioned the empty room.
I could tell he was no harm, so I crawled out of my hiding place and answered, “Hi.”
“Oh,” a surprised look formed on his face, “are you a teacher here?”
I felt like my voice was jammed in m throat, like it was trapped and it couldn’t break free. Something about him made it hard for me to speak, “Uhhh…yeah. Are you?”
His voice made me tremble “Yeah. I teach Language Arts.” He walked over to the table and pulled out a chair. “What do you teach?”
I got up and walked over to the chair opposite of him and sat down. “I teach Social Studies.” I began to feel more comfortable with him, and continued talking, “Are you new here? I’ve never seen you before.”
“Yes, I just transferred here this year. So, you teach Social Studies, what grade level?”
“I teach AP US History and AP European History. What grade levels do you teach?”
“I teach AP Language.” As he spoke I stared deeply into his deep, ocean blue eyes.

Autograph of Love

Here is a short story I wrote a couple days ago. What do you think? Read on and enjoy. ;)

“How could you do this to me?” She questioned with tears in her eyes.
            “Do what?”
“You know what you’re doing.  How could you not? How dare you patronize me?” A steady flow of tears began rush down her cheeks.
“Well, I am doing what I believe is right. If you are unhappy with it, then I guess I can’t change it.”
“Don’t act stupid,” she talked with a deep-seeded passion. “You’re a complete fool. I can’t believe you lied to me.” She turned her body away from him. “I never want to see you again.”
“What do you mean? I am not a fool,” he gently grabbed her and turned her around to face him. Looking deeply into her eyes her said, “I’m only madly in love with you,” He paused for a moment, “If that makes me a fool, then so be it.”
As he spoke a glimmer of hope passed over her face.
“Are you telling the truth? You mean,” she could hardly get out the words, “you’re in love with me?” A slight smile appeared upon her face.
“I have been in love with you since I first laid eyes on you. When you enter a room, it’s instantly brighter. When you smile, you make my day. And when we kiss,” he paused to try and find the right words, “the feelings I experience are truly indescribable.”
A glimmer of sun light flashed through the room just then. It glistened over her tear filled eyes. One single tear rolled down her cheek.
“My love,” he caressed her cheek with his hand, “why are you still crying?” Sadness seeped through his voice as he spoke.
“Oh, you mean this little thing?” She giggled as she wiped her cheek. “These are not tears of sadness, but tears of happiness.”
He took that as the right moment to wrap his arms around her and tightly hold her in an embrace. Being much taller, he gracefully lifted her up into the air and held her lovingly in his arms. He knew this is where she belonged. When they were together, nothing else mattered. They truly completed each other’s worlds.
Affectionately, she whispered into his ear, “I love you.”
            “I love you, too.”
Just as he finished, he held her face in his hands and passionately kissed her. He gave to her his forever lasting autograph of love, one single kiss.
